Piolas del 2000 was formed in 1992 by 4 neighbours and friends from Mar Del Plata, Argentina, when they were in their teenage years (between 9 and 12 years old). The following year they wrote
and recorded their first and only record by themselves, without any adult assistance.

After 30 years of its original recording, “Comienzo” by Piolas del 2000, gets its deserved reissue with the original songs re-mastered. The artwork and format (cassette) of this re-issue was conceived and inspired in a very DIY, limited cassette edition the band did 30 years ago.

The lyrics in the album delve into cultural phenomenons that were relevant (and still are) at the time. As an example, “Topless” sings about female empowerment and “Barras Bravas” digs into
the violence that exists in the streets of Argentina. “Primera Vez” expresses the perception they had about first sexual encounters. “Cada Mañana” or “Te extraño” are love songs. The album touches many different subjects.

The composition is quite minimalistic as the only instrument they used was a Casio Tone Bank. It is interesting how they learnt to dominate and play with their instrument, developing their own unique-sound.

The booklet included in the cassette tells more information about this unique band, giving insights of their lives and other creative projects at that time.
